Refund & Withdrawal Policy (International)
Refund & Withdrawal Policy (International)
This Refund & Withdrawal Policy applies to purchases of digital courses and related products sold by the course provider via the Teachable platform (Teachable Inc., headquartered in New York, USA). It is written to reflect common international consumer protections (EU, US, Australia) and Teachable’s platform practices. This document is a policy statement and does not constitute legal advice; we recommend you have it reviewed by local counsel for specific markets.
1. Applicability
This policy applies to purchases made on the course sales page and checkout operated on Teachable and covers access to online courses, digital downloads, and related services. Local laws and platform terms may give consumers additional rights; where local mandatory consumer law provides greater protection than this policy, the law will prevail.
2. EU consumers — Right of withdrawal (14 days)
Under EU consumer law (Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU and related national implementing legislation), consumers have the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of the contract date without giving a reason. For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, the right of withdrawal may be waived if the consumer **expressly agrees** to immediate access and **acknowledges** that they thereby lose the right to withdraw. If you are an EU consumer and you consent to immediate access to the course at the time of purchase, you may lose the statutory withdrawal right.
(See: EU guidance on right of withdrawal.)
3. Teachable platform default & platform-specific notes
Teachable’s published student guidance states that most course purchases are eligible for a 14‑day refund from the date of purchase, but school owners (course creators) may set their own refund terms or exceptions. Refunds are typically credited to the original payment method within 7–10 business days after approval. Platform or payment processor fees may be subject to the platform’s or processor’s own fee/refund rules; the final refunded amount may be affected by such non‑refundable fees.
4. Voluntary 14‑Day Satisfaction Guarantee (our policy)
In addition to any statutory rights that apply where you live, we offer a voluntary satisfaction guarantee for course purchases:
• If you find the course does not meet your expectations, you may request a full refund within **14 days** of purchase for your **first purchase of each course**.
• To request a refund under this guarantee, email [email protected] with your order number within 14 days of purchase.
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method and usually appear within 7–10 business days after approval. Processing times may vary by payment provider and bank.
5. Exceptions & special cases
• **Immediate access to digital content (EU):** If you expressly agree to immediate access at checkout and acknowledge loss of right of withdrawal, EU statutory withdrawal may not apply. We will present this choice clearly at checkout where required.
• **Coaching, bundles, or add‑ons:** Certain products such as coaching sessions, live events, or bundles that include third‑party items may have different refund rules; these are identified on the product page.
• **Fraud, chargebacks and abuse:** Refunds will be refused or reversed if there is clear evidence of fraud, abuse of the refund process, or breach of the user agreement. We reserve the right to investigate suspected abuse.
• **Platform rules:** Where Teachable or payment processors impose specific non‑refundable fees or limits, those rules may affect the refund amount or eligibility.
6. How to request a refund
To request a refund under our voluntary guarantee or to exercise your consumer withdrawal right where applicable:
• Email: [email protected] with your full name, order number.
• We will confirm receipt and process eligible refunds within 7–10 business days. If additional information is required, we will request it by email.
• If you are an EU consumer exercising a statutory withdrawal before having been granted access to the digital content, the refund will be processed as required by law.
7. Remedies under local consumer law (Australia, US and other jurisdictions)
• **Australia:** Australian Consumer Law (ACL) provides guarantees that digital products must meet a level of acceptable quality and be fit for purpose. Consumer remedies such as refund, replacement or repair may apply where a product or service does not meet these guarantees. We will comply with ACL remedies where applicable.
• **United States:** There is no single federal statutory right to withdraw from digital purchases; state laws vary. In the US, consumers’ rights depend on the contract terms and applicable state law. Our voluntary 14‑day guarantee supplements any local statutory remedies.
8. Dispute resolution and contact
If you have questions or disputes about a refund decision, contact [email protected]. If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, you may be entitled to use local consumer dispute resolution or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes where available in your jurisdiction.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law or platform practices. The version posted on our website is the current policy; material changes will be posted with an effective date.
10. Legal note
This policy is intended as a practical, international refund & withdrawal statement combining platform practice and common consumer protections (EU, Australia, US). It is provided for convenience and should be reviewed by legal counsel for full compliance in specific markets.
